Robin
Campbell...
In the begining had a very traditional and classical musical
upbringing having formally studied piano, violin, woodwind privately,
and tenor vocals with the iconic and unique Yorkshire Winnie Busfield
(Royal Scottish Academy of Music), when living in the West End of Glasgow.
Choral singing was in his "genes", mainly from parental pressure
and persuasion to attend Scotstoun East Church choir which was under the
musical direction of Wilfred Norris. This was to provide training and
a significant influence in the choral, operatic and solo career in the
years ahead.

However, the mid - late 60's changed the beat from
the classics to "jeans" and being clearly untrained on drums
and guitar, from what I remember, it was these self taught instruments,
on guitars bought from the Glasgow Barrows, and thrashing around on a
"premier drum kit" bought on the "never-never" from
Biggars in Sauchiehall Street - not sure if its paid yet - enjoyed some
great rock band times with guys from Jordanhill School.
Having now lost the ability to "hear" it was the old guitar
that survived the 70's and formed, with the late Donald Brown, the folk
duo "Lomond Folk". We sang for many years and covered the usual
patterns of the commercial track, much to the disgust of the purists.
We had a ball in those years singing everywhere and anywhere and organising
folk clubs and folk cruises on the Clyde and Loch Lomond - this all until
Donald's untimely death after a "gig" in Abefeldy, Perthshire.
Its good to know that a new brand of "Lomond Folk" still exists
as a folk organisation at Balloch in Scotland, but sad that the old Black
Bull Hotel folk club in Milngavie is now Marks & Sparks.
From there, until the mid 90's, it has been much
a solo career diversifying through the musical genres as necessary to
pay the gas and electricity bills. With the new millenium evolved a new
musical partnership with fellow musician Andy Hart and formed the rock
duo "Solid-Silver". It's great to be still playing and having
fun in the twilight years. Ain't life strange...its gone the full circle...nearly!
Burns
Nights ...

Robert Burns, Scotland's national Bard is a primary source of material
for Robin. If you need a "Burns Supper" for your friends, corporate
business, restaurant or organisation have a chat with "the man".
Robin can provide you with songs of Burns, indeed the whole supper. From
the Address to the Haggis through to the end with audience participation
in many of Burn's famous songs and literary works.

Weddings...

For that traditional Scottish love song during the
signing of the register, to a full Ceilidh in the evening we can promise
you a real "Scot's on the Rocks"

|
Hogmanay, once the envied New Year celebration
of the Scots, is celebrated the world over. In the past years Robin
has provided a unique "celebration" with Andy in the duo
Solid-Silver, but with a very Scottish contribution around "The
Bells". Try this one for your function this year and you will
rock and bop around the clock at midnight 2008.

Scottish
Parties...

In a more relaxed fashion, should you require
Scottish Songs for that special occasion, be it wedding, christening
or family reunion party then, with or without the kilt, not to be
taken too literally, he's yer man! |
